Biography
Impressionistic Realism is how Thomas Alexander chooses to describe his art work. He combines his feeling and visual impression of his chosen subject with realistic details.
A relatively new name in the art world of Southern California, Thomas Alexander is known for visually expressive landscapes of Santa Barbara County and the surrounding areas. As an avid surfer, the environment and coastline where he surfs and paints are extremely important to Thomas.
Born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, he has been influenced by the local surf culture and his environmentally conscious parents. He attended San Marcos High School where he took art classes with Mike Irwin and moved on to attend UCSC to study art. Alexander moved back from Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara in 2011 and continued to pursue his passion for plein aire landscape painting.
He is currently planning his wedding with his fiancé Wyatt Bolton, and the two plan to start a family together in Santa Barbara one day, but this hasn’t slowed down Alexander’s painting. He has been painting more frequently than ever and his work has evolved over time, becoming polished and truly unique. Alexander’s use of exaggerated colors, contrast and organic shapes defines his style, which continues to evolve over time.
